LAST POST

This first semester of 2014 for English class I had to create a blog. It was the first time that a I have a blog in my life and I think that it was so funny!
I learn English listen to music and movies, but it was unimaginable for me learn English or any language for a social web like this.
In my opinion, it’s was really helpful and revolutionary because I had to learn the way to say my opinions but in other language and I finally managed it!
And knew the website www.linguee.es has been a great support.
Maybe I’m a little slow to publish my blogs, and that’s was because I was locking the best way to say what I want to say but I have to confess: I really love go to the computer room every Tuesday and express myself freely. It was a moment to freedom, really necessary in the University.
In the future, I wish include more posts about photography and places around the world because that are my favorite topics and I think that are more interesting than any topic about the career, for example.

I would read about different kinds of love and how you can do a better world without a lot of effort.
And remember: “YOU CAN DO WHATEVER YOU WANT IF YOU TRY!”

Love, Xi

FRIENDS

In this post I want to talk about friends.
This semester I met two new friends. Their names are: Marisol and Paula. They are my classmates since last year, but only now I knew them very well.
But independent of that I love the fact happened here, in the University: get to know new people but that doesn’t mean you separate of you other friends (WHO I LOVE SO MUCH! They are so amazing friends, always be there for me when I need them. Really thanks for Andrea, Mareva, Carolina and Catalina. I LOVE YOU GIRLS!). You can have more friends and no one claims for attention. This is so relaxed and free, there is not jealous between friends and everyone is happy, because we love each other.
My new friends are best friends between them since last year. First, I knew Marisol and she is so friendly with me and we laugh so much. Then, know Paula was so easy, everything flowed naturally. They are amazing friends, I’m so happy to know them!

Now I see, the best happened this semester is realize that University is so different of school in relationships and that make me feel that I’m in the right place at the right time.

My grandfather’s house
My grandfather’s house is a country house. The house is located in La Estrella County, in region of O’Higgins.
This house is small and had a vineyard next to it. From this vineyard, mi grandfather Luis and his wife Griselda, produces wines and spirits with the fruits they grow.
Is a small businesses but they’re really famous around the village because their spirits are so delicious!
This house is so simple and so beautiful in the same time. Here a feel so comfortable and loved. I really love travel to there because the journey is beautiful (in anytime of the year).
My grandfather is so important for my now (I never know him very well until 3 years ago, for different family problems). He loves me and I love him. He spoils me and cooks fish and chips ONLY FOR ME! Jajaja

I really love this place because is so far away to the disturbing background noise to the city. This house is a place to relieve the stress and tensions, to forget all the problems and breathe…

Imagine Dragons

Are one of my favorite bands now. Is a rock band of four men from Las Vegas, Nevada, United States. They have just ONE album and they are already famous. Songs like “Radioactive”, “It’s time” or “Demons” are recognized worldwide.
My fondness for it start when my little brother show me a song of them in the radio. I’ve heard that before, but I didn’t paid attention. It was “Radioactive”, a great song. Then, with my brother download the songs and we hear it sometimes. They win 5 awards in the last Billboard Music Awards, last Sunday, for example.
In December, the organization of Lollapalooza event publish the list of bands would attend in 2014 to my country, Chile. In this list was included Imagine Dragons.
I went to Lollapalooza 2014 with my brother (thanks my godfather), and we saw them in live!

It was so amazing, really. Their music has so energy, so power and so happiness! You can listen them all day. And in that concert, I fall in love of them jajaja
Jorge Mario Jáuregui,
Angentine architect who united favelas in Brazil

Jáuregui is an expert in use the arquitectural desings to transform the city and united people.
Last night, I saw this entity in the evening news where I knew about their work. Although arquitecture is not my field, the way he uses that to make a difference in the life of citizens is what I want to do when I leave the Universidad de Chile.
He made a cable car to unite the favelas in Brazil. This action produced peace in the Drug trafficking – Police conflict because now the drug traffickers can’t control the pathway access to the favela and people was free.  He also made the “Rambla of Manguinhos”. Is a pedestrian lane to connect two favelas which was separate for a wall and their criminal gangs. “This is gonna cure a social and physics wound in that place”, he said.

Is a genius, I really admired him.

MOVIES

A movie is… a world to discover, an escape from reality. I’m a truly film lover. My best job in the world is being a film critic: watch movies free, and people PAY ME FOR THAT?! Amazing
This love of movies was instilling for my mom. In fact, our plans for the weekend (when we have time) is watch movies in TV or go to the cinema.
The best of movies, in my opinion is know the characters, their histories, be surprised in the course of the film and naturally, if you identify with the history (you make de “implicit pact”) it’s so much better!

My love for the movies is so great that when I can, I watch a movie program called “El Séptimo Vicio” (The Seventh Vice) on Channel Via X. In that Chilean program I see documentary short films, short fictions, animated short films and film trailers. It’s so great because you can learn and discover new authors and works.
Enjoy this wonderful art!

A photo...

This photo is very important to me. It was take in the party’s birthday of my cousins, María Jesús and Maite. They’re sisters and godfather’s daughters. (My godfather is my dad’s brother). They have a one year of difference each other and their birthday is in the same month, this is why they celebrate it together.
In the photo (from left to right) there is: my brother José Miguel; my cousin Maite (the youngest); my other cousin José Pablo (son of my dad’s sister) and I. They’re laughing at my expense, because my crazy face. This is a moment of joy and happiness caught in a photo.
Appreciate this photo because we usually don’t see each other and its great have something to remember them.
I really love make people laugh, and in particular to my little cousins. And of course, I really love them and like see them happy.

Take care of your family; will always be there for you.

After the fire
Valparaíso is a cultural and bohemian (for a while ago) city, is situated on the central coast of Chile.
In that city, since four days ago, started a fire in the hills where a lot of families live. The fire destroyed their houses totally. There are 11.000 victims for the disaster.
It’s important to consider the most houses were overcrowding huts, the wind was so fast and the water to combat that fire was so limited. It was the recipe of a disaster.
But I want to talk about the health care and the solidarity after the fire:
It’s really impressive see all the love and support of disinterested persons from all the country and neighboring countries. All the food, clothes, and of course, the medical assistance like vaccines to target influenza, meningitis, psychologists and doctors. For the group of volunteers, there are tetanus vaccines too.
Now, in my University there is also a drive to collect toys and sporting goods for the victims. I think that’s really adorable.
I hope I can help people who lost everything, EVERYTHING.
Do you want help too? DO IT!

Kisses

My favorite technological object

My favorite technological object is my cellphone. My godfather gifts me after a man assaults me and I lost my old cellphone, in September of the last year.
What I like of my cellphone is the fast connection to the world, to my family and to my friends. I use for that every day, for communicate with them via calls, whatsapp and facebook.
And I take photos with my cellphone too. I love photography! And when I see something beautiful I like picture and save it. The last year I discovered “Dropbox” is a web site to saves files in something similar to a “cloud” in internet. With this program, I can lose the cellphone or the tablet and the photos stay save.

My life would be isolated without it.
My expectations for a new semester

Hello, for this new semester, the first of 2014, I wish approve all the subjects (Administrative Law, Microeconomics, Science Theory, Statistics Applied, Administration Theory I and English III, of course).
I wish I could go to all lessons of Belly Dance. I wish I wasn’t so busy to read all the papers I have to and LIVE.

My timetable is so uncomfortable, because I go into after lunch to class and spend my whole afternoon in the University. Then, when I come back to my home, I’m so tired for doing anything. I hate my timetable, because, in the morning time flies and I can’t study or read in the same way I do in the afternoon. And sometimes, I have class in the mornings too. I wish for the second semester, direction change my timetable.

POST 1

My full name is Ximena de los Ángeles Alvarado Silva, but I don't like people call me “Ximena”, NEVER. The reason of that, it’s because in my family there are a lot of people called “Ximena”, and I’m the younger of that’s “Ximena’s”. Because of that, I prefer “Xime”, “Ximenita” or “Xi”.
I’m Xi, a Chilean woman, I’m 19 years old and I live in Santiago. I was born in the capital city, a sunny day, on January 25th 1995.
We’re a four-member family, my parents plus my brother and I. I’m the older sister of my brother. His name is José Miguel, and he was born on February 25th 1997. My parents have been married for a 20 years, and they’re crazy in love each other’s.
I studied in same school for fourteen years, and now I see that I had to go of there, change of school. It’s was a bittersweet experience.
After that, I joined the University of Chile in 2013 with 17 years old, to study Public Administration. And I think was the better decision in my live, until now. The people here are so relax, funny and support. I love be here, I love this people, I feel like in home. Here I can be me; just me, and nobody discriminate for that.
I really like read novels, watch movies and listen to music. I practice running in the weekends, and belly dance.
